World record for the sale of Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent's Jaguar

Awarded 74,500 euros with fees, a Jaguar MK II one of the last two vehicles of Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent, recorded a world record at auction Sunday in Lyon, announced Monday the auction house Osenat.

Presented at a sale of vintage vehicles, this exceptional 1963 car was estimated at 30,000 euros. This is the first time that this model Jaguar MK II 3.8, in its original green English dress, reaches a high bid.

A Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9 of 1977 that the mythical couple used in Deauville and Tangier, was sold 44,500 euros, almost twice the estimate.

In early November, the ultimate collection of art by Pierre Bergé was sold for 27.5 million euros (with fees). In the Sotheby's House catalog, 100% of the 975 lots were sold, up to four times their estimates.

Deceased on September 8, 2017 at the age of 86, the French businessman, among the great collectors of his time, shared his life between four residences: a Parisian mansion, a dacha in Normandy, a farmhouse in Saint -Rémy-de-Provence and Villa Mabrouka in Tangier.

A portion of the proceeds from this exceptional sale goes to the Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation and the Majorelle Garden Foundation of Marrakech.

In 2009, Pierre Bergé had scattered the important collection of art composed for half a century with Yves Saint Laurent. This "sale of the century" had yielded more than 373 million euros.

On December 14, in Paris, Sotheby's programmed the fourth installment of the sale of Pierre Bergé's personal library, with an anthology of books and manuscripts from the fifteenth to the twentieth century.
