A Possible Formula One Race In The Philippines?

It was reported by British media outlet Independent that Liberty Media, Formula One’s owner, has applied for the trademark to the name ‘Philippine Grand Prix’ which is registered in seven categories including sports events, broadcast, clothing, and printed products. The company also applied for a trademark to the name ‘Manila Grand Prix’. This means that the motorsport company is eyeing the country as the first-ever Southeast Asian Country to host the most anticipated F1 race.

The race will be possibly held in the Pradera Verde Racing Circuit in Lubao, Pampanga which is currently under construction and is designed by former race car driver Hermann Tilke which is currently under construction.

Should the F1 race receive its green light in the Philippines, the race track will hold the event in 2021.
